Driving Medical Exam

Our clinic offers  Driver’s Medical Exams to help ensure your safety on the road.

In Alberta, certain drivers are required to undergo a medical examination to ensure they are fit to drive safely. Here’s an overview of who needs these exams and why:

1. **Seniors**
Drivers aged 75 or older must pass a medical exam to ensure they are physically and cognitively fit to drive. They are required to take another medical exam at age 80 and every two years afterward. This exam assesses health, hearing, vision, and cognitive abilities.

2. **Commercial Drivers**
Drivers with a Class 1, 2, or 4 license, or those with a Condition Code “C” on their license, are required to undergo periodic medical exams. This helps ensure that those operating commercial vehicles are physically capable of safely managing their vehicles on the road.

3. **Drivers with Health Conditions**
Drivers with certain medical conditions, such as diabetes, may also need to complete a medical exam to assess if their condition affects their ability to drive. Additionally, drivers are responsible for reporting any health changes that could impact their driving ability.
